Hello there! Surprise!! I wanted to share the official track list from “Loverboy Lucian” with YOU first. Along with that I’ve also attached early access links to pre-save and pre-order the album before the general public on April 10th. It feels so good to finally tell you guys the titles of each song. This album is a cheeky, sexy, uplifting, romantic, and joyful glimpse into a period of my life that I’m so glad is forevermore documented within the lyrics of these songs.
This album of course opens with “Finally Me”. Ya’ll already know all about that song, so I won’t go too much into detail. “Finally Me” gets us into gear as we enter what I like to call the “the birth of a loverboy”, with tracks 1-3. “The World Around Us Stops” is the launch into joyfulness. It’s the stolen moments, the never ending kisses, the lovesick can’t live without you sweetness. All surrounded by the brilliance of The Regiment Horns playing the equally brilliant, Steve Wonder / Qunicy Jones arrangement written by Ben. Followed up by the soulful seaside ballad, “Loverboy”. Inspired by endless summer days, Malibu sunsets, Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, and my favorite book of all time, “Treasure Island”. My devotion for love shines through the lyrics, as I would truly sail every sea to be part of that world of the man I love.
Things take a cheekier and sexier turn with tracks 4-8. I like to consider this, “loverboy after dark”. You know when you light up a joint and get it going, and the further you get into it, it hits more and more… That’s this portion of the album. “On Call” is actually the first song I ever wrote for loverboy lucian. It’s my way of saying, u up? IYKYK. I like to get to the point, I’m the kind of loverboy who doesn’t have time for nonsense. Speaking of no nonsense, I then introduce you to mr. no nonsense, track 5, “LUCIAN”. I think people have this perception of me, the wholesome guy who sings about the memories that stick with him for life. While that may be true, that’s not all of who I am. “Lucian” showcases the side of myself that has been dying to come out and play. And this song gives you a little taste of that side. Which fully comes into affect with the r&b knockout that is, “Does Your Girlfriend Know About Me?” This song gives controversial in the BEST pop-star ways. Britney Spears once said, “I’m not that innocent”, and baby, I myself am not. While I leave the lyrics of this song to you, the listeners, and your perception. I’ll let you guys come up with your own conclusions on what happened behind those closed doors. Speaking of innocent, I once hooked up with a guy that said Roy, you are a such a good boy. It got me thinking, I am! and I aim to please… So If you’re into something bad… good boys, aim to please… I think all my fellow good boys can agree, well raised, well mannered boys, are the BEST. Once again IYKYK. Reaching the end of our eventful night out, we land back in loverboy sand box with track 8, “Aperol”. Let’s just say even coming down from the high I’m still craving something sweet after the fact…
And finally we’ve reached the end of the ride with tracks 9-10. I call this “loverboy in love”. My next single, “Aim For The Heart”, while it still contains the sexiness and cheekiness of the tracks before it, it’s also utterly romantic, and SO JOYFUL. I hope you hear the smile that is on my face when you hear the entire song. I’ve never had a song that has made me as happy as this one. It’s a celebration of love, and it leads into our final song on this album, “Falling In Love With You”. I wrote this about a boy I fell in love with 2 autumn ago. Being with him felt like being in a snow globe spinning round and round. While that boy may have inspired this song, I now view it as a love letter from Roy to Loverboy Lucian. Through the journey of the last 9 songs, I step into the light and I become who I’ve always wanted to be. This song is my way of re-falling in love with myself and every part of me. I thought I wrote this song to give the boy who inspired it, the happy ending we didn’t get. But it turns out I wrote it to give myself a happy beginning, well earned from all 10 songs on this album.
I hope you’ll enter the ride for yourself and listen to all 10 songs when my new album, “Loverboy Lucian”, releases on May 10th. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this, and I’ve never been more proud of anything I’ve had a hand in creating. I hope you’ll love it, and have as much fun as we have had, making it.
If you’re in San Francisco, come hear the ENTIRE album live on release night, May 10th, at The Faight. You can purchase tickets HERE.
Thank you for your love and support through this process. There’s still so much more to come…
I’ll see you next Monday.
Forevermore, I'm forever yours.
-Roy “Loverboy Lucian”. 💘
